Alan Burnett, MD, received his medical degree from Glasgow University, Glasgow, UK. Subsequently carrying out research in the Ben May Laboratory for Cancer Research, University of Chicago, Chicago, IL. After this, Dr Burnett returned to Glasgow University where he established the Stem Cell Program. Dr. Burnett has previously held positions including Chair of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Adult Leukemia Working Party, the Chair of the National Research Institute Haematological Oncology Study Group, and the President of the British Society of Hematology.

Dr. Burnett has served on several advisory committees and was awarded the Gold Medal of the British Society for Hematology, followed by his appointment as an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for contributions to Medicine. He is currently a Hemato-Oncologist Researcher at Cardiff University, Cardiff, Wales.
