Ajumeera Rajanna PhD

Dr. A. Rajanna obtained his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana State in the year 2002 with a GATE fellowship. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Osmania University. His research interests include Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Nutritional Biochemistry, and Pharmacy. His present research is focused on the exploration of micronutrients as anti-cancer agents with special emphasis to target cancer stem cells along with cancer cells. For the last couple of years working on the role of micronutrients in cancer stem cell metabolism and therapy in normal and drug-resistant breast cancer cells. Also interested in studying of differentiation pattern of cancer stem cells to cancer cells in the presence of micronutrients and drugs. The techniques like gene expression studies, cell cycle regulation patterns, apoptosis, RT-PCR, and Immunohistochemistry have been used to understand the potency of micronutrients along with standard drugs for combination therapy in cancer disease. He has experience in working with different in vitro cell culture facilities to understand micronutrients and drug metabolism. He is a recipient of the DBT Young Investigator Award with a Project Grant. He serves as a faculty for different courses taught at NIN.
