Aimilia Gastounioti, PhD is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is a member of the Computational Breast Imaging Group (CBIG) of Dr. Despina Kontos in the Center for Biomedical Image Computing and Analytics (CBICA). Dr. Gastounioti received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece in 2014, part of which was performed in collaboration with the Ecole Centrale de Paris, France. She recently also received her Clinical Research Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania for training in clinical epidemiology, biostatistics and translational research. Her research interests focus on quantitative imaging phenotypes and machine learning in the context of breast tissue characterization and breast cancer risk towards advancing personalized screening and prevention of breast cancer. She has co-authored 35 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications and 2 book chapters related to computational imaging biomarkers. She serves as a scientific reviewer of “Breast Cancer Research”, “IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging”, “Medical Image Analysis”, “IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering”, and “Medical Physics” journals, and she is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS).
