Dr. Guo’s research focus is to promote pancreatic β-cell preservation in diabetes and develop therapeutic strategies for diabetes treatment. In collaboration with her colleagues, her researches involve multiple projects. 1. One key area is to better understand the phenomena of "metabolic memory" & "legacy effect" of diabetes control observed in clinical trials. Her study (w/ Dr. Schwartz and Dr. McCall) in a high-fat diet induced type 2 diabetes mouse model has demonstrated that diet is critical for prolonged glycemic control after short-term insulin treatment.
