Dr. Ahmed Mukhtar is an associate professor of surgical intensive care at Cairo University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree (M.D.) in anesthesia and critical care from Cairo University. He is passionate about Outstanding Patient Care, especially as it relates to Quality and Safety in and out of the ICU. He is a regional representative of the Safety and Quality of Practice Committee of the World Federation Society of Anesthesiologists (WFSA) in Africa and the Middle East.

He has a special interest in the perioperative management of liver transplantation. He is the director of the critical care services of the liver transplant program at Cairo University School of Medicine. He is also a regional representative of the Liver Intensive Care and Anesthesia Group of Europe (LICAGE) in Egypt. His publications include papers and abstracts concerning intraoperative and postoperative management of liver transplantation.
