Agim Beshiri MD

Agim Beshiri, M.D., is senior medical director, global medical and scientific affairs for Abbott's diagnostics business. In his current role, Agim develops and leads the medical research and medical education strategy for Abbott’s diagnostics business. He and his global team of physicians and scientists are dedicated to elevating the standard of healthcare through research and education. This includes supporting over 750 published studies in cardiology, oncology, infectious disease, and hematology, most recently focused on acute cardiac syndrome (myocardial infarction) diagnosis, management, and outcomes. Prior to his work at Abbott, Agim’s medical background encompassed internal medicine and laboratory medicine. His clinical experience includes the Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas, the 452nd Combat Support Hospital in Wisconsin, and Aurora/Advocate Clinical Laboratories in Wisconsin and Illinois, and in Southeastern Europe.

Agim is a member of several organizations, including the American Medical Association, American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology, the International Council for Standardization in Hematology, International Society for Laboratory Hematology, European Hematology Association, American Society of Hematology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has also served on guideline subcommittees for the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute.
