Afsaneh Alavi MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Afsaneh Alavi is a Professor of Dermatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Dr. Alavi completed her residency in dermatology in 1998 in Iran, and in 2011 in Toronto, Canada. She also completed a 2-year fellowship in Wound Healing and a Master of Science in Community Health at the University of Toronto. Her research interests include wound healing, hidradenitis suppurativa, and complex medical dermatology.

Dr. Alavi received multiple awards including the Practitioner of the Year Award from the Canadian Dermatology Association in 2017, the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Award for HSF Foundation in 2019, and more recently the Supervisor of the Year award from the Department of Dermatology at Mayo Clinic in 2022.
