Afra Bijlsma-zaal MD, PhD

Dr. Afra Zaal completed her medical studies at the University of Amsterdam, her dissertation and training as a gynecologist at UMC Utrecht, and her fellowship in gynecological oncology at LUMC. Since 2022 she works as a gynecological oncologist at Bergman Clinics | Woman and in the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek.

Together with her colleagues, she provides care at Bergman Clinics | Woman for women with gynecological problems, with a focus on HPV-related abnormalities and vulvar disorders such as lichen sclerosis. In addition, she is actively involved in research, guideline development, quality monitoring, and education on HPV-related tumors. She finds working at Bergman Clinics very pleasant because patients can quickly come here for an extensive consultation in a quiet setting outside the hectic pace of the hospital.
