Adolfo Ramirez-zamora MD

Adolfo Ramirez-Zamora, MD, is Professor and Chair of Neurology at the University of Louisville and a nationally recognized expert in movement disorders and neuromodulation. His clinical and academic focus includes Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, tremor, and advanced surgical and device-based therapies, particularly deep brain stimulation (DBS), including directional and adaptive approaches.

Dr. Ramirez-Zamora’s work spans clinical care, education, and research, with an emphasis on translational neurophysiology, optimization of neuromodulation strategies, and outcomes-focused care in movement disorders. He has led and participated in numerous clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies and has contributed to the development of evidence-based approaches to patient selection, targeting, and postoperative management.

He is a frequent national and international speaker and an active member of multiple professional societies, where he has served in leadership and educational roles.
