Dr. Adel Bassily-Marcus, MD, is a distinguished physician, surgeon, and intensivist appointed as Chief of Surgical Critical Care for the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS), with faculty appointments in the Department of Surgery and a secondary appointment in Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine, effective September 1, 2024. He brings more than three decades of clinical, educational, and leadership experience in surgical critical care and ICU management.
Dr. Bassily-Marcus began his medical training at Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine, earned his MD degree, and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). He went on to complete fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he subsequently joined the faculty and held progressive leadership roles spanning clinical, operational, and technological management of multiple intensive care unit teams across the Mount Sinai Health System.
