Dr. Adel Elkbuli is an outstanding researcher and medical student mentor at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Elkbuli is a native of Libya and while attending high school he was deeply impacted by the loss of close family members due to the lack of urgent care available. This inspired Dr. Elkbuli to begin Medical College at Tripoli University School of Medicine, where he graduated at the top of his class. Upon completion, he received a full tuition scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education in Libya to continue his postgraduate education in the United States. With this scholarship, he pursued a Master's in Epidemiology and Public Health. Dr. Elkbuli is currently working on several research projects including the efficiency and effectiveness of Trans-Cranial Doppler ultrasound in the early detection of stroke in children with sickle cell disease, HIV intervention prevention for substance users, cancer prevention, and Allergenic environment and burden of Cardio-Pulomonary Disease in the US. He aspires to become an anesthesiologist in the next four to five years and become a distinguished and well-known public health researcher and advocate.
