Adam Cockrell has over 10 years of experience in the biotechnology industry. From 2011 to 2018, they held positions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Research Associate and Postdoctoral Researcher. In 2018, they joined Pfizer as a Principal scientist, managing a team pursuing AAV-based gene therapies to treat rare diseases. In 2019, they moved to AveXis, Inc. as a Principal scientist, managing a team to develop analytical tools and execute research to characterize different stages of the AAV vector manufacturing process. In 2020, they joined KNOWBio LLC, EmitBio Inc., and Vast Therapeutics Inc. as a Director of Virology Research, leading research efforts focused on highly novel antiviral therapeutic approaches. In 2021, they joined Capsida Biotherapeutics as a Director of Viral Vector Development. In 2022, they joined AavantiBio, Inc. as Senior Directors of Vector Biology. After the acquisition of AavantiBio by Solid Bioscience, they continued their position with Solid Bioscience as a Senior Director of Vector Biology, developing and managing a team of scientists exploring early research and development around novel capsid and vector technologies. Adam is also managing early pipeline gene therapy programs through external collaborations and the internal development of novel gene therapies.
