Abolfazl Zarjou MD, PhD

Dr. Zarjou received his M.D. from the Medical University of Debrecen, Hungary where he then pursued his PhD degree. He then joined Dr. Anupam Agarwal’s research team as a postdoctoral scholar at UAB, then began his residency in the ABIM Research Pathway with the Department of Medicine at UAB.

Dr. Zarjou’s research interest is focused on the heme oxygenase-1/ferritin system in the context of acute kidney injury and vascular diseases. Clinically, he will be pursuing an academic career in Nephrology.
