Abigail H. Viall, Sc.D., M.A., serves as the Senior Advisor for Federal Alignment and Strategy in the Data Policy and Standards Division of CDC’s Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology. In this role, she builds inter-agency partnerships to advance data exchange for public health action through complementary authorities, resources, and expertise. She also works with those same federal partners to identify and create opportunities for strategic alignment with industry and state and local partners.
Before this role, Dr. Viall served as the Associate Director for CMS Strategic Relations in the CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion and was detailed to CMS’s Center for Clinical Standards and Quality to advance joint strategic policy and programmatic initiatives around patient safety and infection prevention and control in healthcare facilities. She also spent 10 years in the CDC’s National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention, where she led policy and programmatic efforts to advance the availability, accessibility, and quality of prevention and care service within clinical care settings. Abigail holds a Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree in health policy and management from Tulane University, as well as a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Anthropology from Pennsylvania State University.
