Abigail Baldwin-Medsker, MSN RN OCN, is an Oncology Certified Nurse Leader for Outpatient services at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). Abigail joined MSKCC as a registered nurse in 2004 on the Thoracic Medical and Surgical oncology inpatient unit after receiving her Bachelors degree in Nursing from Wagner College. She then graduated with her Masters degree in Nursing Administration from New York University in 2008. In 2009, Abigail transitioned to the outpatient setting as a Clinical Nurse Specialist/Nurse Manager for the Solid Tumor Gastrointestinal and the Melanoma and Sarcoma medical oncology services. In 2011 she was promoted to the Nurse Leader position providing oversight to the Solid Tumor Gastrointestinal, the Melanoma and Sarcoma medical oncology services and the Gastric Mixed Tumor, Hepatopancreatobiliary and Colorectal surgical oncology services.
As a Nurse Leader she is responsible for the oversight of clinical operations and the clinical staff providing care to our oncology patient population. Abigail has participated in several institutional initiatives representing the Department of Nursing. She is the nursing representative on the MSK Symptom Monitoring & Proactive Management project team, Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics committee, the Outpatient Nursing Steering Committee, the Department of Nursing Practice Council, the Colorectal Enhanced Recovery After Surgery/Surgical Site Infection committee as well as several others. Abigail has served as the Nurse Leader facilitator on several outpatient councils supporting MSKs shared governance model. She is currently the facilitator on the Outpatient Practice Council. She has been published in peer-review journals and is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society.
