Abhik Bhattacharya MStat, MS, PhD

Abhik Bhattacharya, PhD has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare analytics. He stared his career as clinical research biostatistician while finishing his dissertation in health systems engineering. Upon completion of his degree he got involved in payer side analytics working for a large academic hospital by providing analytics insights to achieve high quality care in a safe environment. His innovative works to promote business case for quality were adopted by several clinical units. Abhik’s contribution in healthcare advanced analytics and predictive modeling using big data was initiated after he joined the Blue Health Intelligence as a senior research scientist. In that role he developed new risk adjustment models to evaluate cost-efficiencies of specialty care areas which were central to designate providers under the Blue System.
Abhik then moved up to analytics management role to lead the analytics team within HP Enterprise Services to support Wisconsin Medicaid program. Within a short period of time he led the team to achieve high customer satisfaction using improved analytical process and sophisticated analytical techniques. He rejoined the Blue System as the Director of Value Measurement to develop new methods of evaluation in Blue Distinction Total Care.
In his current role as the Group Leader for Analytical Methodology and Innovation in Astellas US LLC., Abhik manages the team of statistical methodologists who are involved in using Real World Evidence (RWE) to create actionable intelligence for better and more efficient patient care. He holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from the George Washington University and a PhD degree in Health Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
