Dr. Kulkarni obtained his MD degree in 1994 and his Neurosurgery certification in 2002. Following this, he completed fellowship training in pediatric neurosurgery at Hôpital-Necker Enfants Malades in Paris. He joined the Hospital for Sick Children in the Division of Neurosurgery and Population Health Sciences in 2003.

Dr. Kulkarni’s research interest is in the area of clinical epidemiology, specifically the study of long-term health outcomes in pediatric neurosurgical patients. He completed his Ph.D. in 2003 in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University. His Ph.D. thesis led to the development of the first health status outcome measure for use in pediatric hydrocephalus.
