Dr. Abdus Salam Khan completed his MBBS from Dow Medical College and then did the residency training in Internal Medicine from USA. He spent his time in Florida working as Primary Care Physician and Emergency Physician, and then started an Urgent Care in Tampa bay Area. He was involved in teaching the Nurse Practitioners of University of South Florida. He was also involved in free medical care through Red Crescent Medical Clinic in Tampa FL.

In 2009 he came back to Pakistan and joined Shifa Emergency Department as Consultant and in 2010 assumed the responsibility of Director of Emergency Department. Through extensive work he was able to create a dedicated team of professionals to not just run the emergency department but also to propagate the emergency medicine as a field in Pakistan.

He worked with his team and also in collaboration with national organization as well as likeminded emergency physicians to start the Emergency Medicine residency through College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. In 2010 the residency training started in two departments in Pakistan including his own department at Shifa International Hospital at Islamabad. He became the supervisor of Emergency medicine residency training and the first Program Director of The Residency Program at Shifa.
