Dr. Abdurrazak Gehani, MB, BCh, MD, FRCP Edin, FGHA, FESC, FACC, is a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and an Associate Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at Weill Cornell Medical College. After completing his MRCP (UK) in 1985, he undertook structured and dedicated training in clinical and interventional cardiology in the UK and was appointed Consultant Cardiologist.
He conducted post-doctoral MD pioneering research into ‘Advanced Percutaneous Angioplasty Techniques, Angioscopy, Stenting, and related Platelet function Studies,’ which achieved several international awards, including the Croom Lectureship Award of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and The David Mitchell Lectureship Award of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland. He was the sole winner of the Young Investigators Award of the American College of Angiology. Dr. Gehani is the Program Director of Nationwide Primary PCI in Qatar which won the star of Merits Award, 2013. In addition, he has a major interest in pacing and device electrophysiology implantation. He is the Editor in Chief of Qatar Medical Journal.
Dr. Gehani is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP Edin), a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC). He is an examiner in several undergraduate and postgraduate examinations boards, the Arab Board of Medicine and the Saudi Board of Cardiology. He is an examiner and chairman of the MRCP-PACES committee.
