Dr. Abdullah Gibriel is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Pharmacology & Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, The British University in Egypt (BUE). He obtained his B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University in Egypt. Dr. Gibriel was offered a PhD scholarship from the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS), Strathclyde University (United Kingdom) to study visual transduction proteins and their involvement in retinal degeneration. After obtaining his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Gibriel joined the University of Glasgow as a postdoctoral scientist for more than 2 years in a project that aimed at designing microarray and RT-PCR sensor platforms for monitoring cell signaling pathways for various drug treatments using unique reporter system with multiplexed transcriptional libraries. Dr. Gibriel has a strong record of international publications in high-impact factor and peer-reviewed journals. He has supervised several M.Sc and PhD students and has obtained many research grants, awards, and appreciation certificates. Lately, he has been awarded the prestigious State Encouragement Award in the Medical Sciences for his outstanding contributions in this field. Dr. Gibriel’s main research interest is to understand how human cells communicate and cross-talk through complex biological machinery before participating in tailoring and offering optimal therapeutic strategies in various diseases such as cancer, hearing impairment, NASH, aging, and liver-associated disorders. He has been serving as an active member of the editorial board for several internationally peer-reviewed journals. He is also a member of several scientific societies that are well-recognized internationally.
