Dr. Abdullah Demir received his B.S. in Physics and M.S. in Computational Science & Engineering from Koc University in 2002 and 2005, respectively. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Optics & Photonics from the College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL) at University of Central Florida (UCF) in the USA in 2007 and 2010, respectively. His doctoral research studied quantum dot lasers and vertical-cavity-surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), where he developed the first GaAs-based oxide-free VCSEL currently under development for commercialization in the USA.
