Dr. Abdulhakeem Okab Al Thaqafi obtained his MBBS from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1991 and successfully completed his Saudi and Arab Board in 1998. He acquired his fellowship degree in Infectious Diseases from University of Manitoba, Canada in 2001.
Aside from being an Infectious Diseases Consultant, Dr. Thaqafi is presently an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine & Infectious Diseases in King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Jeddah. He is also the Regional Director of Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program, Saudi Arabia. Since 2003, he has been serving as Section Head of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine and Director of Infection Prevention & Control Department in King Abdulaziz Medical City, Jeddah till his promotion to Associate Executive Director in 2011.
To date, he has contributed 12 infectious diseases/infection control related publications aside from completed and ongoing researches and poster presentations. He is also one of Jeddah’s most sought-after speakers in specific Infectious Diseases/Infection Control topics such as HIV, MDRO, VAP, IFI, Infection Control Basics and Program
