Dr. Aaron Wheeler Founder and Scientific Advisor - Prof. Wheeler is the Canada Research Chair of Bioanalytical Chemistry at the University of Toronto, with a primary appointment in the Chemistry Department, and cross-appointments at the Institute for Biomaterials and Bioengineering (IBBME) and the Banting and Best Department of Medical Research (BBDMR). Dr. Wheeler is best known for his contributions to the area of digital microfluidics. Kapplex's core technology originated from Dr. Wheeler's laboratory at the University of Toronto.
In recognition of his many accomplishments, Dr. Wheeler was recently awarded the Frank Beamish Award for Innovation by the Canadian Chemical Society, an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, an Eli Lilly and Company Young Investigator Award in Analytical Chemistry and is the recipient of the 2012 Heinrich Emanuel Merck Award for Analytical Science from EMD Millipore, the Life Science division of Merck KGaA of Darmstadt, Germany. The American Chemical Society presented him with the Arthur F. Findeis Award for Achievements by a Young Analytical Scientist; the Royal Society of Chemistry named him the Joseph Black Award 2012 winner for his pioneering work developing microfluidic techniques for clinical sample analysis. Dr. Wheeler co-founded Kapplex and serves as the head of the Scientific Advisory Board.
