Dr. Billin is an avid outdoorsman and does a lot of volunteer work with Search and Rescue, Wilderness Medical Society, and Boy Scouts of America. He achieved Eagle Scout in his youth, has served as Scoutmaster and District Camporee Chairman. He is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Billin has served as a preceptor for wilderness EMT students for the Wilderness Medicine Institute of the National Outdoor Leadership School. He is a member of North Absaroka Ski Patrol and serves as Park County Health Officer.

He is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Life Support of Obstetrics (ALSO), Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS), Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS), and National Association for Search and Rescue - SAR Tech II.
