Aaron W.P. Maxwell, MD, is a board-certified interventional radiologist at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals, and director of interventional oncology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he is also an assistant professor of diagnostic imaging. His primary clinical interests include interventional oncology and palliative care.

Dr. Maxwell is a member of several of Lifespan’s internal committees including the Lifespan Cancer Institute Operations Council and the Lifespan Cancer Institute Cancer Clinical and Research Council. He is involved with many professional societies that include the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Radiological Society of North America.

He earned his medical degree from Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and a fellowship in interventional radiology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Throughout his postgraduate training, Dr. Maxwell was recognized with honors and awards including two RSNA Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen Resident Research Awards from Brown (2017, 2019). Among his most recent activity in the industry are his appointments with the Society of International Radiology, including the committees for research grants and education, grants review, and clinical research and registries.

Dr. Maxwell is a reviewer for both the Journal of Vascular & Interventional Radiology, and RadioGraphics, and has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters.
