Dr. Orr’s laboratory studies the role of cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion in atherosclerosis, the leading cause of heart attacks and strokes. Dr. Orr’s research focuses on how local hemodynamics and changes in matrix composition promote the local inflammatory response that drives atherosclerotic plaque development.
