European School of Multimodality Imaging & Therapy (ESMIT) Autumn School is organized by European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) and will be held during Sep 07 - 09, 2018 at University of Belgrade Faculty of Medicine, Belgrade, Central Serbia, Serbia. Level 2: School : The ESMIT School is aimed at residents, recently board certified specialists as well as general nuclear medicine specialists, radiologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, cardiologist and neurologists who want to update their knowledge on state-of-the-art multimodal medical imaging. Academic education is often focussed on one single modality. However, with changing and advancing technologies, the ability to apply “the right test for the right patient” is impossible without training in multiple modalities. Better integration and understanding of the clinical applications of different modalities and how they complement each other will help elucidate the most cost-effective and highest diagnostically accurate algorithms for patient care. ESMIT is intended to bridge the gap between daily life expectation and traditional academic training. The ESMIT School format will include 3 days interactive, multi-modality teaching on 4 different subjects, or tracks each one lasting 1.5 days so that attendees can study 2 different topics per meeting, each one dealing with a specific organ/system-oriented theme. The School is designed to provide the knowledge and training on multimodality procedures daily applicable in the management of patients with the cardiovascular, endocrine, musculoskeletal, neurological and oncological disease. Technologist Track : The Technologist Track presents an opportunity for practicing nuclear medicine technologists to deepen their knowledge in a number of areas including PET-CT & SPECT-CT optimization and more - as listed hereunder. The content of the track : • Multimodality imaging refresher • Normal variants, artifacts & optimization in multimodality imaging • Anatomy, physiology & common pathologies in multimodality imaging • Advanced PET topics including radiotherapy planning and respiratory gating • Radiation protection in multimodality imaging • Scanner calibration and quality control • Patient-focussed practice and the use of IV contrast • Exclusive content: Hands-on sessions, the participants can interactively expand their knowledge on processing and reconstruction of molecular imaging data sets The target audience : Nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs) currently practicing in the field, with EQF6 knowledge, skills, and competence (KSC) NMTs who have completed ESMIT 1 Level technologist webinars and who wish to develop their KSC The aim of this track is • To refresh knowledge of the principles of PET-CT and SPECT-CT and the radiopharmaceuticals used • To be aware of significant normal variants and urgent presentations • To understand principles of PET Quantification/SUV calculation • To understand scanner calibration of PET, SPECT, and CT • To understand effects of reconstruction and acquisition parameters on image quality • To understand the principles of dose optimization in hybrid imaging • To learn methods of reducing effective dose to patients while maintaining image quality • To understand basic principles of optimizing CT parameters in hybrid imaging • To understand how to use contrast-enhanced CT in SPECT-CT & PET-CT protocols Registration to the Technologist Track: Since the organization of the Tech Track is different than from the other 4 tracks (as described in the tab “Technologists”) if you are interested in attending either the Serbian track. The registration fee for the Tech Track amounts to € 100.- since it will be held for 1,5 days and without the option of attending one of the other tracks before or after. Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
