The New York Society of Addiction Medicine (NYSAM) is an organization of physicians from all medical specialities. Our MISSION is to be a physician-led professional community for those who prevent, treat, and promote remission and recovery from the diesease of addiction, and to provide resources for continuing innovation, advancement, and implementation of addiction science and care. Our VISION is to help create a future when addiction prevention, treatment, remission and recovery are accessible to all, and profoudly improve the health of all people. NYSAM is a State Chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

New York is where the American Society of Addiction Medicine began in 1954. This national organization of physicians is dedicated to improving the treatment of alcoholism and other addictions and promotes research and education to enlighten physicians and communities about addiction prevention and treatment. Its national goals are supported by our State chapter.

The New York Society of Addiction Medicine acts locally and regionally to foster ASAM’s national efforts. As NYSAM members we gather together, combine our experience and expertise, associate with noted researchers in addiction medicine, and organize ourselves to contribute to effective solutions to addiction problems for our communities and our patients.
