Swiss Society of Intensive Medicine (SSMI)

Basel, Basel-Stadt, Switzerland

Since 1972, the Swiss Society for Intensive Medicine (SSMI) has been committed to providing quality treatment for critically ill patients cared for in Swiss hospitals. The grouping of doctors, nurses and intensive care nurses in a society of medical and nursing disciplines as it was operated in 2011 remains to this day a completely innovative approach. Since then, the interprofessionality experienced on a daily basis in intensive care units is reflected in the SSMI. Together, They take responsibility for the patients hospitalized in Swiss intensive care units.

Their company is a member of the Foederatio Medicorum Helveticorum (FMH) as well as of the SFSM (Swiss Federation of Specialties in Medicine SFSM). Its main objectives are to represent the professional interests of its members, guarantee postgraduate and continuing education of high quality, promote research and improve the quality of treatment.

The goal is to encourage interprofessional and interdisciplinary implementation of the treatment and care process for "critically ill patients". The following main tasks of the SSMI are listed in the Company's 2020 Profile.
