St John’s Institute of Dermatology was founded in 1863 by John Milton, a surgeon whose career was cut short by hand eczema. He wanted to cater to a special group of patients who not only suffered from their condition but also the public stigma associated with it. This is at a time when you could lose your job for having a skin disorder.

St John’s Institute of Dermatology is an internationally-recognized center of excellence in education and research of skin disease. It is the largest clinical dermatology department in the UK and a leading postgraduate training center for dermatologists and other health professionals from all over the world.
