The Italian Society of Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (SIDiLV) was formed in June 1998 by researchers at the University, of the Animal Disease Prevention Institutes, the Institute of Health and private laboratories, they felt the need of a point to meet and exchange scientific on the issues of laboratory diagnostics in the veterinary field. The objective was achieved through the efforts placed by the Founders and later by the Executive Boards that have followed and interpreted the needs expressed by the members.
Since its establishment the SIDiLV is affiliated to the World Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians with which he organized in 2001 the X World Congress and, since 2009, the European association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians, recently established.
The SIDiLV is an independent and non-profit cultural association profit organization that brings together all those who, in Italy, are involved in the prevention, diagnosis and control of animal diseases and protection of food safety ( Statute ). Key corporate initiatives are defined by the Assembly that meets annually during the National Congress, where members assess the proposals of the Board of Directors in office. The organizational structure makes use of its web site for corporate communications and the creation of discussion forums.
