Professional Association of German Internists eV / Berufsverband Deutscher Internistinnen und Internisten e.V. (BDI)

Wiesbaden, Hessen, Germany

The Professional Association of German Internists eV (BDI) has been successfully representing the socio-political and professional interests of German internists to the federal, state, local authorities, insurance carriers and medical self-government organizations for over 60 years. With around 21,000 members, it is one of the three largest medical associations in Germany.

As a strong partner, the BDI campaigns against setting the wrong course in health policy and promotes the professional training and further education of specialists in internal medicine. With its own congress department, the BDI organizes international and regional congresses and training events every year. It advises its members on all legal issues related to internal medicine in practices and hospitals. The BDI supports prospective doctors even during their studies. Every year, the association awards scholarships to students pursuing a career in internal medicine.

The BDI is represented in all federal states (chamber and KV areas) by state associations. Sections were set up in the BDI for the various internal medicine focal points, in which competent questions in the field are discussed and there is close contact with the respective scientific societies. In numerous working groups and working groups, all topics of the diverse internal medicine activities can be discussed.

Mission statement:
The BDI - the professional political representation of all internists in all areas of care - is a guarantee for comprehensive and holistic internal medicine and attaches great importance to continuously structured further training at the highest level.
