Polish Institute of Evidence Based Medicine (PI-EBM)

EBM ( evidence-based medicine, i.e. medicine based on current and reliable scientific data) is a paradigm of modern medicine. The people who created the Polish Institute of Evidence Based Medicine (PI-EBM), with significant support from world authorities in this field, primarily EBM pioneers from McMaster University in Canada, have a fundamental contribution to promoting the principles of EBM in Poland.

Mission:
Goals and principles of operation of the institute.

The Institute's goals are:
• Promoting the idea and principles of making decisions in healthcare at all its levels based on reliable and current scientific data. Such behavior, also taking into account individual experience as well as preferences and value systems, is referred to as evidence based medicine (EBM for short).
• Making available the results of reliable clinical trials published in foreign medical journals to Polish healthcare professionals and patients.
• Initiating, conducting or coordinating systematic reviews and meta-analyzes of clinical trials.
• Initiating, conducting or coordinating the development according to the appropriate methodology, dissemination and implementation of clinical practice guidelines to rationalize and improve the quality of healthcare in Poland.
• Educational and consulting activities in the field of planning and conducting clinical trials as well as analyzing and presenting their results.
• Scientific and research activity in the field of: clinical epidemiology; clinical research methodology; clinical practice guidelines; systematic reviews and meta-analyzes; making decisions in clinical practice; quality of medical care; medical didactics and other related activities with a similar purpose.
