The Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association (PPMA) currently represents more than 875 Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (or podiatrists) across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PPMA started in 1909 in order to stop an objectionable legislative bill proposed to regulate all phases of healthcare practice, which included a clause to eliminate the practice of chiropody.

Mission:
• To serve members of the Podiatric Profession.
• To act as an advocate for the podiatric profession and the member in all forums relating to the public, the legislature, and the medical industry.
• To advance the professional level of our membership through the dissemination of scientific and educational material.
• To act on behalf of the membership in increasing the levels of service that members of the profession give to their patients for the purpose of enhancing the quality of the patients’ lives.
