Professional Organization for nurses specializing in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Nursing.

Mission:
As nurses in the specialized field of Developmental Disabilities, our mission is to continually develop our expertise in order to assure the highest quality of life to the people we serve, throughout their lifespan.

PADDNN's inaugural meeting was held in March of 2000, beginning as an organization focused on recognizing the unique specialty and contribution of nurses working in the field of Developmental Disabilities. PADDNN is dedicated to addressing the needs of DDNs while recognizing the diversity of settings and roles in which DDNs function throughout the Keystone State.

Their reason for being is to support Developmental Disabilities Nursing in Pennsylvania. They continue to be a resource for the latest developments in Developmental Disabilities Nursing and the Office of Developmental Programs policies affecting I/DD nursing throughout the state.

Meetings are held on a quarterly basis, rotating throughout the various regions of Pennsylvania. PADDNN meetings are educationally focused, bringing members the latest updates on physical and behavioral health issues, legislative issues, and emerging practices.

Beginning in October 2009, educational presentations provided at PADDNN meetings and at Their annual conference may be used toward fulfillment of Pennsylvania's continuing education licensing requirements for RNs. Additionally, they offer a great place to network with other professionals in the field, and share expertise and experience. Any nurse, licensed in the state of PA, is welcome and encouraged to attend. They strive to assure a nurturing and supportive environment for all in attendance.

PADDNN is an active local network, with members strong across the state. They are also an affiliate of the national Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (DDNA). They provide Their members with the latest updates from DDNA, encourage DDNA membership, and support DDNA's certification programs for RNs and LPNs. PADDNN's scholarship committee will provide a full annual scholarship to one of Their members for attendance at the National DDNA Conference.
