Peking University People's Hospital was founded in 1918. It is the first comprehensive western medical hospital built and managed by Chinese people with funds raised and managed by the Chinese. It was originally named "Beijing Central Hospital" and Dr. Wu Liande, a pioneer of modern Chinese medicine, served as the first president. Asia's first allogeneic syngeneic bone marrow transplantation, China's first hepatitis B vaccine, and China's first extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy equipment were born here, promoting and witnessing the progress of Chinese medicine.
