Ontario Orthopaedic Association (OOA)

The Ontario Orthopaedic Association is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1978. The Association represents orthopaedic surgeons practicing in Ontario. The Ontario Orthopaedic Association hosts an Annual General Meeting each November and is dedicated to maintaining high standards of Orthopaedic care in the province of Ontario.

The Ontario Orthopaedic Association is not a referral agency. The Canada Health Act requires that any referrals to an orthopaedic surgeon must be made by a family physician. The Ontario Orthopaedic Association does not disclose private information about its members.

To Provide Excellent Orthopaedic Care in Ontario

Research:
To Better Understand the Function and Disorders of the Musculoskeletal System and to Continually Critically Evaluate their Current Treatment and Endeavour to Improve Upon It

Public Service:
To support and act as advocates to individuals with orthopaedic disabilities.

Prevention:
To Encourage Whatever Improves Musculoskeletal Health and Discourage That Which Is Deleterious

Standard of Care:
To promote appropriate standards of care through education.

Education:
To encourage and support scholarship, academic freedom and academic achievement in orthopaedic surgery and to continue to educate theirselves, their students, other health care workers and the public

Manpower:
To monitor and maintain adequate orthopaedic service for the residents of Ontario.

Leadership:
To Represent Ontario Orthopaedic Surgeons in Maintaining Adequate Working Conditions, Reasonable Compensation for Their Labours and a Reasonable Quality of Life
