In the ever-evolving landscape of movement disorders & functional neurosurgery, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) has emerged as the dominant procedure for various clinical indications. As a result, stereotactic lesioning techniques have gradually faded from the spotlight, both in clinical practice and in the training of young neurosurgeons. However, there is a significant subset of movement disorders like Focal Hand Dystonia (FHD), other segmental and hemi-dystonias, one-side tremors of any kind (including those due to Parkinson’s Disease and Essential tremors (ET), etc wherein Lesioning surgery is actually the TREATMENT OF CHOICE! Added to these are the economic, geographic, and other reasons, and hence there remains a significant future demand for well-controlled and skilfully performed stereotactic lesioning procedures to benefit patients who require functional neurosurgery.
Mission:
Noble Art of Lesioning's mission is not only to preserve and pass on the invaluable expertise in stereotactic lesioning techniques to younger neurosurgeons through practical courses led by experienced functional neurosurgeons but also to help each of them to set up a viable practice in their regions. They are committed to promoting the art and science of stereotactic functional lesioning procedures, bridging the knowledge gap, and upholding the highest standards in functional neurosurgery.
