The Minnesota Health Information Management Association (MNHIMA) is Minnesota’s health information management association representing over 3300 professionals. They were originally established on June 20, 1935 in Duluth, Minnesota as the State Record Librarians Association. Our name was later changed to the Minnesota Medical Record Association, when They incorporated as a 501 (c)(6) not-for-profit corporation on March 10, 1976. Their name was officially changed to the Minnesota Health Information Management Association on Jan 1, 1992. They are a component state association affiliated with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Mission:
Their mission is to lead the health informatics and information management community, to advance professional practice and standards in Minnesota, be committed to the development, connectivity and involvement of its members, and empower people to impact health.

Vision:
The Minnesota Health Information Management Association (MNHIMA), together with AHIMA, will set the standard and be the recognized leader in health information management practices, technology, education, research and advocacy.
