Michigan Nurses Association (MNA)

Michigan Nurses Association (MNA)

Okemos, Michigan, United States of America

The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is the largest, most effective union for registered nurses in Michigan. Through collective bargaining, nurses are involved at every table where decisions are made that concern their practice. As the voice for all registered nurses in Michigan, MNA advocates for nurses and their patients at the State Capitol, in the community, and at the bargaining table.

In the workplace, MNA has helped nurses in health care systems across the state join together to form a union. Nurses represented by MNA have been successful in gaining greater control over their practice, their time and their lives.

MNA contracts address both economic issues, such as pay and benefits, and nursing practice issues. MNA nurses have negotiated contracts to eliminate mandatory overtime, set safe and appropriate nurse-to-patient staffing ratios, reduce exposure to hazardous materials, and establish precedent-setting lifting guidelines to protect themselves and their patients.
