International Medical Olympicus Association

In ancient Greece, during the well-known Olympic Games, other contests were held like Medical, Theatrical or poetic contests. Medical contests were taking place in Efessos in Asia Mino. Having that in mind, during a Medical Symposium held in Thessaloniki, on 2008, we asked important Professors who participated in the Meeting, about organizing Medical Olympiads in Thessaloniki. All were very much enthousiastic and offered to support and help in order to materialize this idea. Two years later, the International Medical Olympicus Association was formed and successfully organized the first International Medical Olympiad in Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is located in a very strategic and promising junction between Asia, Africa and Europe. From Thessaloniki one can easily go to touristic and historical places like Chalkidiki, Vergina, the birthplace of Aristotle, the birthplace of Democritos and other. The City is well related to the name of the Olympic Activities. because the name of the Olympiads derived from mount Olympus-the place where Ancient Gods were resided. This mount is close and well viewed from Thessaloniki.
