MedChi is a non-profit organization that is governed by the Board of Trustees. There are also a variety of other contributing groups/people that make up the MedChi organization. These include: the MedChi Staff, the House of Delegates, several Councils and Committees, Component Medical Societies and Affiliates (The Center for a Healthy Maryland, MCA, The Alliance to MedChi and MMPAC).

MedChi,is one of the most progressive medical societies in the nation, speaks on behalf of over 22,000 licensed physicians in the state, who practice in more than 50 medical specialties. MedChi is composed of 24 component medical societies, plus a medical students' and residents' section.
