Malaysian Psychotherapy Association (MPA) or the Persatuan Psikoterapi Malaysia is a professional body for practicing psychotherapists. The Malaysian Association for Psychotherapy was founded in 2002 (Malaysian Registrar of Society Approval Number 1741).
Practitioner members of MAP are professionally certified to practice as psychotherapists with the Annual Practicing License issued by MAP under the General Category or under one of the Board-Certified Specialised Practice Membership listed in the Board-Certified Membership list.
MAP is a registered member of the Federation of Complementary & Natural Medical Associations, Malasia (FCMNA), appointed by Traditional and Complementary Medicine Council, Ministry of Health Malaysia as one of the designated practitioner body.
Objectives:
• To promote the practice of Psychotherapy among members.
• To support the practice of Psychotherapy among members through information exchange, networking and educational events.
• To increase public awareness of the benefit and accessibility and benefits of Psychotherapy.
• To solicit government support for the practice of Psychotherapy.
• To encourage high ethical standards in the practice of Psychotherapy.
• To promote and encourage research in the field of Psychotherapy.
• To publish newsletter and research materials in the field of Psychotherapy with the prior approval of the authority concerned.
• Maintain a library of magazines, books and research reference materials for members and the public.
• Seek donation from the public with the prior approval of the Registrar of Societies and other relevant authorities.
