The Maine Nurse Practitioner Association is the professional organization for nurse practitioners who constitute the largest group among Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), and number about 3,170 in Maine.
The board certifications for NPs are - Family, Psychiatric Mental Health, Adult Gerontology Primary Care, Adult Gerontology Acute Care, Pediatric Primary Care, Pediatric Acute Care, Women’s Health and Neonatal. Many NPs may also have specific areas of interest and expertise in medical and surgical subspecialties (endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology and many others), underserved populations and rural health care.
