The Maine Nurse Practitioner Association (MNPA) is the state’s professional organization for nurse practitioners who constitute the largest group among Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), and number about 2,627 in Maine. MNPA as an organization works tirelessly to make sure they have a clear voice for Nurse Practitioners within the states legislature, and have a place at the table for health care decision making within the state.

The board certifications for NPs are - Family, Psychiatric Mental Health, Adult Gerontology Primary Care, Adult Gerontology Acute Care, Pediatric Primary Care, Pediatric Acute Care, Women’s Health and Neonatal. Many NPs may also have specific areas of interest and expertise in medical and surgical subspecialties (endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology and many others), underserved populations and rural health care.
