SLARD, as a continental society, has as its main objective to represent all regional societies before other international societies, serving as the natural link between them. It includes 18 countries and 26 regional organizations, covering a vast geographical area with unparalleled human and resource potential.

Mission:
Promote among its members, through its continuing medical education programs, the development of arthroscopic surgery, treatment, and rehabilitation of different joint, traumatic, and degenerative pathologies and sports injuries of the locomotor system.

Vision:
SLARD aspires to be a scientific society with an institutional presence without distinction in all Latin American countries. It will have as allies all Latin American societies and their chapters related to their objectives, involving all colleagues whose professional development is in accordance with the objectives of their society. They seek to be a society with high academic productivity that represents their region before other continental societies.

Goals:
• To support and encourage high-quality medical training in arthroscopic surgery, the management of joint pathology, and sports injuries of the musculoskeletal system at various academic levels.
• Promote the development of training activities in arthroscopic surgery and joint pathology, such as: workshops, laboratories, courses on anatomical and/or synthetic pieces, and in general all those activities that strengthen the skills and knowledge of its members.
• To promote, support and sponsor scholarships and special academic exchange programs for its members.
• Facilitate exchange and learning among members through continuing medical education programs.
• Organize regularly, congresses, courses, workshops, scientific meetings, webinars and online courses.
• To promote, encourage and support research work related to arthroscopic surgery, joint pathology and sports injuries of the locomotor system in Latin America.
• To promote and encourage relationships with related Scientific Associations and Societies, at the regional and international levels.
• To promote the union of surgeons specializing in arthroscopic surgery, joint pathology and sports injuries in Latin America.
• To promote the union of surgeons specializing in arthroscopic surgery, joint pathology and sports injuries from Latin America with members of peer societies from North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
