Welcome to the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. the department is committed to training compassionate, skilled family physicians who are prepared to care for individuals and families across Kansas, especially in rural and underserved communities.
During the eight-week family medicine clerkship, They strive to give all third-year medical students on the Wichita campus a glimpse of the joys of practicing family medicine, forming deep and meaningful relationships with patients of all ages, and connecting with a community throughout a career. Through Their residency programs at Smoky Hill-Salina, Wesley Medical Center and Ascension Via Christi, They provide hands-on training rooted in community care, service and excellence in patient-centered medicine. More than half of their residency program graduates continue to practice in Kansas and have been critical components of the healthcare infrastructure of there state.
