Korean Society for the Study of Obesity (KSSO)

Korean Society for the Study of Obesity (KSSO) is established at 1992 by the Late professor Tae Hee-Lee and the special group of like-minded persons for the study and the academic approach of obesity in Korea. Over the course of many years, KSSO achieves the many academic results by the various support programs for the researchers.

KSSO is a group of specialists including clinical physicians(internal medicine doctors, surgeons, pediatricians, psychiatrists and family physicians), dietitians, exercise specialists, nurses, basic scientists (biologists, chemists and geneticists) and experts in public health. KSSO engage not only simple academic research but also diverse public activities related obesity.

KSSO hold an academic conference twice a year in spring and fall. Especially in 2015 fall, KSSO will hold the first international congress, named ICOMES (International Congress on Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome) in Seoul. KSSO publish academic journals, The Korean Journal of Obesity, four times a year.
