The Dortmund Clinic is one of the largest hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia. As a house of maximum care, the Klinikum Dortmund offers medical excellence with 1,422 beds, which is provided by around 4,600 employees. Almost 1/3 of the more than 315,000 patients per year (65,000 inpatients, 250,000 outpatients) come from the region and the entire federal territory. With 25 clinics and five institutes, the Dortmund Clinic offers cutting-edge medicine in all disciplines with the exception of psychiatry. With around 500 training places, the Dortmund Clinic is the second-largest training company in the region. Sales are around €420 million. The Klinikum Dortmund is 100 percent municipally owned. In addition, the house is a hospital for the University of Witten/Herdecke.
