The Kentucky Association of Medical Oncology (KAMO) was organized in 1999 to advocate for, educate and inform practicing Oncologists and Hematologists. Originally formed to represent medical Oncologists in Kentucky, the organization has expanded its scope in 2007 to include Hematologists and other professionals on the cancer care team.
The society is dedicated to assisting Oncologists and Hematologists in the delivery of the highest quality patient care by providing a forum to exchange ideas and by representing their interests and those of patients before governmental entities, insurance carriers, pharmaceutical companies and the public. KAMO is a state affiliate for the American Society of Clinical Oncology and works closely with other health care organizations such as the American Society of Hematology, Kentucky State Medical Association and patient advocacy groups.
