Kentucky Association for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (KAHPERD)

The Kentucky Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (KAHPERD) is a non-profit organization composed of educators and advocates. They are a state affiliate of SHAPE America – Society of Health and Physical Educators. They provide professional learning opportunities throughout the year and conduct an annual convention that attracts professionals from around the state and country. The KAHPERD board meets four times a year and is comprised of our elected members. Our quarterly bi-annual journal is designed to inform, enhance and expand the work of our members.
They promote health education and physical education issues at the legislative level through our collaborative efforts, as well as providing advocacy resources to our members. KAHPERD, in conjunction with the Kentucky Department of Education, played a vital role in revising the Kentucky Academic Standards for Health Education and Physical Education.
